WebCheck has been widely accepted by Ohio background check agencies since the release of the software some 5 years ago. To date, there are approximately 2500 WebCheck workstations in operation. WebCheck has greatly shortened the civilian background check turnaround time, representing significant cost and time savings for agencies.
Version 4.0 includes all of the functionality of version 3.0, along with a number of significant improvements:
- Automated System Installation:Once a fingerprint capture device driver is installed, a registered agency can install WebCheck 4.0 directly from the WebCheck 4.0 website.
- Automated System Update:System updates are automatically installed when the user visits the Webcheck 4.0 site.
- Strong Communication Encryption:WebCheck 4.0 runs on a secure web server using industry standard, SSL technology. Data communication between the workstations and the server is fully protected.
- Client Digital Certificate Verification:Only agencies with valid digital certificate issued by Cogent Systems, Inc. can visit the WebCheck 4.0 site.
- Local Fingerprint Duplication Check:A duplication check will be conducted when fingerprints are captured.
- Latent-Style Non-fingerprint Position Search:All four fingers will be used for matching against prints in the tenprint database. No finger position is assumed.
- "Mail To" Functions:WebCheck agencies can have BCI&I send the background certificates directly when they create the WebCheck transactions.
- Parent and Subagencies:The parent agency has the option of viewing the transactions for all of its subagencies, and it can also generate a certificate, if necessary.

- Software:Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP • IE 5.5 thru 7.x
- Network:A direct or dial-up Internet connection, Cable or DSL
